Jitters are a common side effect that might never go away but with the right medicine these feelings should be minimal. I lucked out and my Adderall prescription I got several years ago still works perfectly to help me manage my ADHD but I know LOTS of people need to try different setups to find what works for them. I’d recommend talking to your doctor about adjusting your medicine prescription and trying to find a dosage or brand that works better for you and your goals. Hey, I have ADHD as well and am TERRIBLE at math and used to get a lot of math-based anxiety when I was in school. Sorry if the post seems more like a rant - don’t have anyone else to share this problem with. Is there anyone else with similar experiences, and what did you do? Are there alternative roles that are less technical, like VC? Also feeling really anxious about the upcoming IB - is it stupid to forgo it and throwaway an opportunity like that? I can’t just take my meds either because they can sometimes make me very sleepy or jittery, which is obviously bad. I was only diagnosed recently, so before that I thought I was just bad at math. I’m feeling really lost right now because I initially thought that I could just train myself to get better at dealing with numbers/on the spot estimations or calculations, but according to my doctor it’s an adhd thing that doesn’t just go away. I’ve never told anyone about it or declared it because I don’t want to be a diversity hire or filtered out, but my most recent 6 months in PE has been really challenging, and I was anxious every day. It takes me much longer than the average person to do anything numbers-related and it’s very frustrating and sometimes depressing, because I genuinely like investing and analysing companies. However, every single day of my internships I dread the inevitable technical and numbers work because of my ADHD. I’m a 3rd year student at a good university and I’ve done internships in HF, AM, PE and an upcoming IB in summer. Is something missing from this sidebar? Click here to let us know!
